Needs-Based Funding Campaign
The domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) sector in the Northern Territory (NT) is astonishingly under-funded and resourced, despite the NT having the highest rates of DFSV in Australia and among the highest in the world. The current model of funding, based on population size rather than need, is inadequate and outdated.
Tangentyere Council Aboriginal Corporation asked me, on behalf of the Day of Action Organising Committee, to design and deliver a social media campaign using the 2023 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence as an opportunity to raise awareness around this issue and call for the Australian government to implement needs-based funding in the NT.
