The Equality Institute

The Equality Institute (EQI) is a global feminist agency working to advance gender equality and end violence against women and girls. EQI works to advance gender equality and support violence prevention efforts to thrive in a rapidly changing world – through research, creative communications and global leadership.

Over 7 years, I built an engaged Instagram community on Instagram of over 83,000 followers from over 56 countries, speaking more than 43 languages. Engagement rates reached 60.5% (high engagement rates are recognised to be between 3.5 - 6%). Some posts went viral, including one post which organically reached over 3 million accounts.

I helped EQI partner with other organisations to offer social media training, and facilitated workshops with Tangentyere Women’s Family Safety Group, and at SVRI Forum.

The impact of this social media account runs deeper than engagement rates. Followers have shared their learning journeys, new understanding of complex issues around intersectional feminism, and deep on their lives as a result of interacting with EQI’s content.
